WHY DO A CERTIFICATE COURSE?

If you are looking at a career in the dance industry, we highly recommend taking one of our courses. There are so many career options in the dance industry that extend to dance teaching, performing in musicals, being a professional dancer where you can freelance and perform at many events such as corporate, film clips and tv work.

We take our students on a journey, from how to prepare and present at an audition, to choreographing and producing their own show. Certificate III in Dance

Certificate III in Dance is for dancer’s wishing to further their training, learn teaching methods and work on projects in a team.

Duration – 1 year Full Time – 5.5 hours per week plus 2 x 1 week School Holiday Intensive sessions and 2 x Saturday Intensives per school term

Units – 13       Entry requirements – N/A

Topics covered

  • Working within the industry
  • Assisting the teacher, educating students in class planning, purposing and leading with confidence and certainty
  • Managing a project within a team – designing their own film clip
  • Choreography 101 – learning the art of putting together movements to create a clean and exciting dance piece for a public performance
  • Weekly participation in dance classes of all genres

Course Requirements

The majority of the core and the elective components are completed during the students weekly classes except for the major components that will need to be completed during 2 x 1 week School Holiday Intensives and 2 x Saturday Intensives per school term, in order to gain satisfactory completion of this course.

 The styles of dance that are mandatory in order to complete this course are-

  • Jazz
  • Contemporary
  • Street Technique (Hip Hop)
  • Ballet
  • Strength and Conditioning
  • 5 hours of personal practise a week – Students must participate in a major performance to document the evidence of this time.

Assessments

Assessment types vary for each unit and include practical participation in technique classes, performances, knowledge papers, journals, portfolios, written reports, interviews and student based projects. Participants who do not successfully complete all the requirements for the qualification will be issued with a Statement of Attainment listing those units attained.
